WOODFIRING & SALT GLAZING WITH GREG CROWE

Greg CroweGreg Crowe has done extensive research into developing clay bodies for salt glazing and wood-firing.

The colour responses on the pot surface from exposure to the salt vapour in a wood-firing is simply fascinating and beautiful.

The wood-fired, salt kiln that he built in 1984 is still being used today. There's much to be learnt from experiencing an entire wood-firing process (Tour 2005!).

RAKU FIRING WITH STEWART SCAMBLER

Stewart ScamblerStewart Scambler is renown for his wood-firing and raku firing expertise. Some of his pots have undergone repeated wood-firing to over 150 hours to create fabulous colour and surface effects!

We learnt from first hand experience Stewart's highly efficient raku firing techniques and procedure. It was exhilirating to see the characteristic raku effects that we achieved on our pots!

BONE CHINA SLIPCASTING WITH ANGELA MELLOR

Angela MellorAngela Mellor is a contemporary ceramicist who explores the translucency of bone china. Her insipration comes from landscape, coastal environment and light.

Angela shared generously with us how she does bone china and paperclay slipcasting, and her recent project in combining her creations with artificial lighting to bring out the translucent quality of bone china in a magical way.
