WOOD-FIRING WITH CHER SHACKLETON

Cher ShackletonCher Shackleton has over two decades of pottery experience and her specialisation is in wood-firing and raku firing.

Cher has just completed her latest round of wood firing in early Nov and we were fortunate to be invited to the opening of her new wood-fired pottery exhibition at the Perth Studio Potters Club (photo below). We really enjoyed her exhibition and we met many other local potters and friends. We loved the fine wine too!

ARTISTIC CERAMICS WITH GARRY ZECK

Garry ZeckGarry Zeck is an innovative ceramicist who combines his painting with ceramics. His exploration of tea pot form is extraordinary and fun.

Resourceful Garry blends his own clay and makes his own big and small gas-fired kilns. The tour of his huge and well-organised workshop was highly educational.

POTTERY HISTORY TOUR WITH JANET WATT

Janet WattJanet Watt began potting when she was in the UK and has an immense knowledge of the histroy of English pottery. And she has a valuable collection built up over three decades.

Janet's home is like a pottery museum to me. She was very kind to bring out her collection of pots made by early English pottery pioneers and we learnt so much about the history of English pottery from her sharing.

We were also intrigued by the kick-wheel which requires leg movement and coordination in throwing a pot.
