This is a first-of-its-kind art exhibition in Singapore that will showcase ceramic arts created by a group of Visually Impaired pottery enthusaists together with a bunch of volunteers.

Since May 2009, a group of Visually Impaired (VI) from the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) has embarked on learning pottery skills that enable them to manifest their inner visions into physical reality through the use of clay medium. This is a special experiential art therapy (and also experimental) program designed by Clay-Street.

Supported by volunteers, the VI potters enjoy the clay art tremendously. It was a magical journey of co-creation by the VI and the sighted volunteers. We held a vision of realizing a first-of-its-kind Clay IN-SIGHT Exhibition before Christmas in 2009.

This collective dream of ours will come true on 5 and 6 December 2009 at the Vivocity Singapore, thanks to Social Innovation Park, the organizer of the PaTH Market @ Vivocity, for accommodating our exhibition.

4 Dec 2009 - Setting Up After many months of co-creations - moulding, firing, glazing... our dream was coming true finally. The VI-potters and volunteers alike were as excited as little kids. Thanks to volunteers (Jane, Swati, Ankit, Theingi, Madhuri, Ajay and Alvin) who met at VivoCity after 10pm to set up the display tables and display boxes, getting as much ready as possible to facilitate the next morning's exhibition opening.

5 Dec 2009 - Exhibition Day 1 Thanks to our army of volunteers who arrived at 9am, our Clay IN-SIGHT Exhibition opened at 11am. What a joyous and busy first day for the VI-potters and volunteers! Many friends and visitors came, supported and purchased our clay art creations. Many also left encouraging words in the guest book. By the end of this first day, we had sold almost half of all art works.






6 Dec 2009 - Exhibition Day 2 Our VI-Potters took time to share with guests their artistic creations and the volunteers also share how they co-created alongside the visually impaired partners. Many guests supported the exhibition with purchases. SIP founder and MR Ms Penny Low graced our exhibition in the evening. We are happy to have sold 90% of all our clay creations! Already, we are looking fondly forward to holding our 2010 Clay IN-SIGHT Exhibition.
