| 4 Dec 2009: Setting Up - After many months of co-creations - moulding, firing, glazing... our dream was coming true finally. The VIPs and Angels alike were as excited as little kids. Thanks to Angels Jane, Swati, Ankit, Theingi, Madhuri, Ajay and Alvin who met at VivoCity after 10pm to set up the display tables and display boxes, getting as much ready as possible to facilitate the next morning's exhibition opening. | |||||||||||||||||

| 5 Dec 2009: Exhibition Day 1 - Thanks to our army of Angels who arrived at 9am, our Clay IN-SIGHT Exhibition opened at 11am. It was great to see our VIPs dressed at their best as exhibiting artists. What a joyous and busy first day for the VIPs and Angels! Many friends and visitors came, supported and purchased our clay art creations. Many also left encouraging words in the guest book. By the end of this first day, we had sold almost half of all our art exhibits. | |||||||||||||||||

| 6 Dec 2009: Exhibition Day 2 - Our VIPs took time to share with guests their artistic creations and the Angels also share how they co-created alongside the visually impaired partners. Many guests supported the exhibition with purchases. SIP founder and MP Ms Penny Low graced our exhibition in the evening. We are happy to have sold 80% of all our clay creations! Already, we are looking fondly forward to holding our next Clay IN-SIGHT Exhibition in 2010. | |||||||||||||||||

REFLECTION... Before the exhibition, some VIPs were doubtful if anyone would come and see their works. They had even less confident that people would actually buy their arts. With 80% of our art exhibits sold out within 2 days, this inaugural exhibition proved to be a transformational event for the VIPs as well as Angels. The encouraging level of support by friends and total strangers who happened to pop by was intensely felt by us. It was clear that the passion and boldness captured in the clay expression moulded by the VIPs was felt strongly by many who visited the exhibition. We are glad that the VIPs had a healthy dose of confidence booster while the Angels had a confirmation that the time and effort that they volunteered was purposeful and gainful. In 2010, we shall aspire to propel Clay IN-SIGHT onto a sustainable trajectory towards greater accomplishments. |

Would you support using less paper, plastic and polystyrene foam cups in your workplace? It may take everyone a little extra effort cleaning washable mugs but it’ll go a long way towards healing Mother Earth… Would you consider using ceramic mugs made from the humble earth in place of use-and-throw disposable ware at your office pantry, when serving your clients, and during company meetings and functions? Singapore’s pioneer batch of Visually Impaired Clay Potters has an inner Green vision to express, a passion to connect with the mainstream society and a desire to be self-reliant and earn a respectable livelihood through their artistic talents and pottery skills. Would you support them? DRINK TOWARDS A GREENER EARTH is a social initiative that allows you to support the Green Movement and the Visually Impaired. Come visit our first ever exhibition showcasing specially designed GREENER EARTH MUGS that are handcrafted by our Visually Impaired Potters and Volunteers. No two mugs will ever be alike as each is individually created from the heart through the hands without the usual sense of sight. Pick the designs you fancy and place an order with us. Your orders will provide a meaningful, income-generating job for them. |

It was a most enjoyable and memorable exhibition involving all VIPs, Angels as well as SAVH staff. Thanks to Ms Denise Phua for gracing the opening ceremony as our guest-of-honor and thanks to all our sponsors and supporters. Thanks also all kind hearted buyers of our Greener Earth Mugs. At 6.30pm on the last day of our exhibition, we celebrated with a yell as the mug orders shot pass our target of $10,000! |

Clay IN-SIGHT Exhibition @ Marina Bay Sands 2010
Thanks to the invitation by Social Innovation Park (SIP), we get to once again showcase the new age arts co-created by the VIPs and Angels, and this time at a mainstream international gifts and stationery show at the brand new Marina Bay Sands Expo Convention Centre. There were a total of 15 social enterprises invited by the SIP to participate in the Singapore Gifts and Stationery Show 2010 and Clay IN-SIGHT is very proud to be among them. Ms Penny Low, President of SIP, was the Guest-of-Honour who opened the show on 18 Aug 2010. The Angels and VIPs took turn to set up, man and share our story with guests, visitors and supporters at the show. We were pleased to have generated greater awareness of the art expression by the VIPs. Alvin was also invited to speak at the show. He shared on the topic: "The Fun, Challenges and Meaning in Creating a Social Business". |

REFLECTION... Every exhibition is precious in creating awareness for this emerging new form of art by the VIPs and shaping the sense of purpose and the spirit of volunteerism among the Angels. Every such public event is also an outreach for the VIPs to network and share their vision in Clay IN-SIGHT with the mainstream community, thereby promoting social integration. We shall endearvor to nurture and grow Clay IN-SIGHT into a self-sustaining social business so as to provide a platform for the VIPs to shape themselves up to become self-reliant artists in non-sighted artform. |
