Hua
Choon's pottery techniques were trained at the Dragon Kiln - Sam
Mui Kuang Pottery. He graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine
Arts Sculptural course in 1993.
He was selected to participate in the International Ceramic Workshop
in Jingdezhen, China in 1993 and Tokonama, Japan in 2001. He was
also invited as artist-in-residency in Jingdezhen, China in 2002
and Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, Japan in 2004.
Hua Choon's ceramic and sculptural works were selected to exhibit
in numerous local and international exhibitions, including China,
Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, etc. He was invited to participate in the
"Common Ground World Project" organised by the International
Academy of Ceramics and the United States.
His private studio "Studio-in-Connection" was set up
in 2001 and currently, he is the Chairman of Singapore Whampoa Ceramic
Club, and also ceramic art trainer of the People's Association in
Singapore.
